Dry rough and chapped lips will take away the attention to your beautiful glowing face, our lips also enhance the attractiveness of our face. Complete the look by taking care of the lips the same way you do with your skin. A fan of make-up has to understand that no amount of lipstick will take away the rough lips. Lip care first then lipstick or lip gloss later, it takes not much time to invest in them. Here are some simple tips to keep them soft, luscious and kissable.
4 BASIC TIPS FOR BEAUTIFUL SOFT LIPS
- Exfoliate
The same way you do with your face, exfoliate your lips with a use of natural lip scrub at least once every week to remove dead cells and dry skin from your lips. Be gentle with the skin on your lips which is fragile, don’t use a harsh body scrub. Examples of home-made chemical free scrubs are
* Gentle rubbing dead skin away with a soft-bristled toothbrush
* Mixture of olive oil with sugar
* Or a mixture of honey with sugar or
* Alternatively use one that’s formulated specifically for use on the face.
- Moisturize
Apply healing lip balm or moisturizer after every exfoliation to keep them smooth and supple. Avoid licking your lips by trying to keep them moisturized as these will darken them and further dry them out. Keep the lip balm handy all the time so you can avoid licking. For regular use go for a tinted lip balm instead of a lipstick and be sure to use lipsticks with essentials like Shea butter, Vitamin E or jojoba oil that will help moisturize the lips. Do not overdo matte lipsticks because they make them dryer.
*for getting rid of dry and chapped lips try a mixture of Vaseline with olive oil & apply at least 4 times daily.
- Keep them hydrated
The simple act of drinking enough water can make your lips look much more beautiful. We all know drinking water keeps our skin healthy. Our lips need to be hydrated to retain their natural moisture and color.
- Use SPF Lip Care Products
Always use lip products that contain SPF to protect your lips from the harsh sun rays and cold weathers. The damaging effect of the UV rays will also darken them & leave them dry and cracked. To protect your lips from cold dry air use a thick humectant that contains essential oils like coconut oil. Lip balms that contain alcohol dries them further but they are good in getting rid of cold sores.
*For soft pink lips mix a little almond oil and honey, massage and leave overnight
*Or make a 15min lip balm by mixing 1tsp of honey with ½ tsp of lemon
Remember some consumables, beverages like alcohol, smoking and weather can have a bad impact on taking away the natural beautiful skin, we need to help it regain all the beauty.
Keep your lips looking pretty by eating a healthy diet and staying hydrated. Finish the look by using lip gloss or lipstick to give them an extra boost.
N.B: For temporary solution use brighter colours for fuller looking lips, warm colours will make them smaller
